Passion Pit - Sleepyhead
Oddsome, I was just listening to this an hour ago… Passion Pit’s description on last.fm is so absurd. Checkit:
So like, get it out of your mind that this is yet another avant-retro scumbag project, some kind of 21st-century revival of that 80’s electropop revival from the late 90’s.
No, no, that’s not it at all.
It’s more like…well, remember when Peter Gabriel and Scritti Politti crashed your Christmas party sophomore year and did a set of Prince covers on your little cousin’s toy piano? Do you remember how pure, how beautiful everything looked outside that night, the snowflakes caught in floodlight against the black of the sky? And that girl—what was her name—how gorgeous she looked in that weird white sweatshirt with all that fake sparkly stuff in her hair? It was NOW, right now, and there wasn’t anything else but now.
Yeah, that’s it. But that’s not all of it.
Also worth noting is the massive medley of Sleepyhead remixes. This one was popular enough to actually be included with the EP on iTunes. I likes.
So so so so rad. I got two copies of two wonderful EPs, one by Vulture Reality, the other by Francis and the Lights, both made possible by Normative.
This kind of customer service can’t be bought. It was free. Yeah. Jakob Lodwick is one pale, sexy man.

This is… I… don’t even… there are no words…
Thanks Kevin and reddit. My life will never be the sane.

Ok, so this is likely grandpa balls old, but I just noticed how awesome SOFA’s website is. I love it. Their (three month old) write-up on building the site with Django and Google App Engine made me giddy. They know how to get stuff done and get it done beautifully.
My respects.
I’ve been using NearlyFreeSpeech for domain and web hosting since February, and as far of my needs go, it works perfectly. The idea behind their service is paying based on your actual resource usage, and, going by their rates, this translates to my site’s bill being a couple of dimes a year (not including domain renewal costs). Granted, if you’ve got a high volume, resource intensive site, NFSN probably isn’t the best host to use, but if you’ve got a simple tumblelog setup and just want to be able to host a few images and scripts and have a domain of your own, all accessible from an ultra simple control panel, it’s great.
Check out their surprisingly frank FAQ for more info.
This is great. Found while perusing Monkey Fires Shot, one of Tiny Sauce LLC’s latest ventures (these are the guys behind 200nipples).
Sidenote: tonight’s 200nipples shirt looks magical:
And, as an added autumn bonus, it comes with not one, but two sleeves! This is shaping up to be another late night for me.
As many likely were, I was first introduced to Feist by Apple’s 1 2 3 4 iPod nano commercial and promptly downloaded The Reminder. Great album. Believe it or not, it turns out her earlier work is great too. This is Mushaboom from Let it Die.
